National Association Of Nigeria Student Nurses and Midwives Statement On #moveustotheuniversity Campaign
Date Posted: 04/Apr/2019
Good evening, the movement to the university campaign Is a campaign led by the National Association Of Nigeria Student Nurses and Midwives, This will be taken to Twitter today by 8pm, kindly join us so as to make our voices heard.
Here is the reason for our outcry;
If you went through a school of Nursing or presently in one you would understand that the kind of training we're being made to go through is nothing to be compared to the reward or certificate we tend to get thereafter
We're tired of the stereotypic ways at which schools of nursing Operate,,
They make us to go through 3rigorous years of academic training and then have to spend another four to five years to get a degree,, why not move us to the university as a department as SONAkure has done and make us a degree awarding institution?
As an RN you graduate and they start offering you peanuts as a salary because they believe you've spent just 3yrs in school whereas a Doctor will be paid 5-8times of that salary because he went to the university to study, Nursing will not rise to its rightful place until it stops the three years training.
Our first year school fees in a school of Nursing is enough to send a student to school to study medicine, graduate and still collect change after service?
There are just too many reasons to opt of the system that has repeatedly pegged the progress of our profession
You'll agree with us that school of Nursing is a scam?, its just a way of making money for people who doesn't want progress but redundancy for this so called "Noble profession"
Join us in this fight as you tweet with the hashtag #moveustotheuniversity tonight and you'll be glad you were part of the revolutionary group that took Nursing profession a step further to achieving its feat✊
Thanks in anticipation
